Overview
Embark on an unforgettable DIY Mountain Climb as you scale Malaysia's highest peak, Mount Kinabalu, reaching the awe-inspiring Low's Peak Summit at an astounding elevation of 4,095 meters above sea level. As you descend from the magnificent summit of Mount Kinabalu, seize the opportunity to partake in the thrilling Via Ferrata Walk The Torq activity. Your DIY mountain journey includes an overnight stay at the Pendant Hut Dormitory, perched at a lofty 3,289 meters above sea level within the Panalaban Base Camp. Please note that you will have to arrange your climb permit, mountain guide, insurance, and transportation yourself.

Itinerary
Day 1: Kinabalu Park HQ / Timpohon Gate / Pendant Hut
- Gather at Kinabalu Park HQ for the commencement of the climb.
- Upon arrival, our experienced guide will facilitate all necessary registration processes and provide your ID TAGs. Wearing the ID TAG is mandatory throughout the expedition.
- After completing the registration, you will be transported to the starting point, Timpohon Gate, where they will embark on their challenging ascent. This portion of the climb typically takes approximately 4-5 hours.
- Traverse through a variety of distinct vegetation zones, including Oak and Chestnut forests, mossy landscapes, and eventually, alpine vegetation.
- Upon reaching the Panalaban Base Camp, check in to their accommodation at Pendant Hut, nestled at an impressive elevation of 3,289 meters above sea level.
- A mandatory Via Ferrata familiarization session will be held at Pendant Hut, where you will also meet your Mountain Torq trainer.
- In the evening, indulge in a hearty buffet dinner at the Laban Rata restaurant, followed by an overnight stay at Pendant Hut.
- It is recommended that participants rest early to prepare for the next day.
Day 2: Mount Kinabalu Low's Peak / Walk The Torq / Timpohon Gate / Kinabalu Park HQ
- Wake up at 1:30 AM to enjoy an early supper and prepare for the next phase of the expedition.
- The journey continues towards the summit of Mount Kinabalu, where you will conquer Low's Peak, standing at an impressive 4,095 meters above sea level.
- After reaching the summit, descend to meet your Mountain Torq trainer at Sayat Sayat Hut, located at an elevation of 3,668 meters.
- Here, you will embark on the thrilling introductory via ferrata experience known as "Walk the Torq".
- Upon completing the via ferrata experience, you will return to Pendant Hut for a well-deserved late breakfast before checking out.
- The descent will continue until you reach Timpohon Gate. From there, transportation will be arranged to return participants to the headquarters, where they can collect their certificates of achievement.

Important Notes
- Ensure you have organized your climb permit, climb insurance, mountain guide services, and transportation prior to your climb.
- The rate per person is determined based on a join-in tour arrangement.
- All rates provided are quoted in Ringgit Malaysia (MYR).
- All rates are comprehensive and include the applicable 0% Goods and Services Tax (GST).
- While at Pendant Hut, customers must bring their own face masks and wear them at all times, except during eating, drinking, and sleeping periods.
- Climbers arriving at Timpohon Gate after 16:30 will incur a fee of MYR 15 per hour per guide. This fee is to be paid directly to the mountain guide on-site.
- Laban Rata Resthouse does not offer boiled water for drinking or refilling to climbers. Coffee and tea are available exclusively during breakfast and supper. Additional hot or cold beverages, including mineral water, can be purchased at the grocery counter.
- Pendant Hut provides filtered hot water for drinking and refilling purposes for climbers.
- A Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTX) of MYR 10 per room per night is applicable to foreign visitors and is payable upon check-in. Malaysian citizens and permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempt from this tax and must present a valid identification during check-in.
- Lunch will be converted into a packed meal for all climbers who arrive at the local restaurant after 16:00 hrs on Day 2 of the Mount Kinabalu descent.
- While tipping is not obligatory, it is always greatly appreciated.
Important Mountain Torq Policy For Via Ferrata Climbers
- Climbers are required to provide their original passport or Identification Card for registration at Kinabalu Park HQ on the day of their actual climb.
- Attendance at a mandatory 'via Ferrata' briefing and training session in Pendant Hut is required between 15:00 and 16:00 on the first day of the climb. Please note that the latest cutoff time for this session is strictly observed.
- All via Ferrata activities will be conducted in groups under the guidance of certified Mountain Torq Ferrata trainers.
- Climbers who do not adhere to the specified timing will not be permitted to participate in their chosen Via Ferrata Teaser activity. Regrettably, no reimbursement will be provided.
- Your safety is of utmost importance to us. In the event of extreme weather conditions, the via Ferrata activity may be cancelled, and no refunds will be issued.
