Overview

This is a Mount Kinabalu climb package with Via Ferrata activity, which includes an overnight stay at Kinabalu Pine Resort in Kundasang. The climbing will be done in the next two days, along with the Via Ferrata activity along the Low's Peak Circuit.

This package includes:

This package offers an additional overnight stay at Kinabalu Pine Resort in Kundasang for acclimatisation before ascending the mountain. This package is suitable for intermediate climbers that want an extra challenge thanks to the Via Ferrata activity along the Low’s Peak Circuit.

Itinerary

DAY 1: KOTA KINABALU / KUNDASANG / RESORT

  • Dinner
  • You will be picked up from your hotel lobby or the airport for a 2-hour journey to Kundasang, which is near Kinabalu Park.
  • Along the way, you will pass through villages and get a panoramic view of the valleys of the Crocker Range.
  • During the journey, there will be a brief stop at Nabalu, where you can buy local produce, fruits, home-grown vegetables, and handicraft souvenirs.
  • After that, you will check into the Kinabalu Pine Resort or a similar accommodation.
  • You are free to spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
  • Dinner will be served at the resort's restaurant, and you will stay overnight there.

DAY 2: PARK HQ / TIMPOHON GATE / ASCEND MOUNT KINABALU / PENDANT HUT

  • Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Buffet Dinner
  • You will be picked up from your resort or a similar accommodation and transferred to Kinabalu Park Headquarter, where you will collect your packed lunch.
  • Our guide will take care of all necessary registrations, assign you a mountain guide, and apply for your ID TAG, which you should wear at all times.
  • After that, you will be transferred to the starting point, Timpohon Gate, where your journey to the summit of Borneo's highest mountain will begin.
  • The climb is expected to take approximately 4-5 hours and will pass through different vegetation zones, including Oak and Chestnut, mossy, and eventually alpine vegetation.
  • 15:00 Hr: At 3,289m, you will arrive at Pendant hut and settle in.
  • 15:30 Hr: you will attend a mandatory Via Ferrata familiarization session in Pendant Hut and meet your Mountain Torq trainer.
  • 18:00 Hr: You will enjoy a buffet dinner at Laban Rata restaurant and spend the night at Pendant Hut.
  • 20:00 Hr: Lights out.

DAY 3: LOW’S PEAK / WALK THE TORQ / DESCEND MOUNT KINABALU / KOTA KINABALU

  • Early Supper, Breakfast, Lunch
  • 01:30 Hr: Wake up to have an early supper and pack up your necessary belongings.
  • 02:30 Hr: Proceed to your journey towards the summit of Mount Kinabalu.
  • 05:40 Hr: At an altitude of 4,095m, catch the sunrise by reaching the summit of Low's Peak.
  • 06:00 Hr: Meet your Mountain Torq trainer after descending from Low's Peak.
  • 06:30 Hr: At the 7.5 km mark, meet your via ferrata trainer to experience the Low's Peak Circuit via ferrata (an intermediate level via ferrata graded AD in the French system, taking 4 to 5 hours).
  • 11:00 Hr: After your endeavors, enjoy a late breakfast at Pendant Hut as a reward.
  • 12:00 Hr: Descend to Timpohon Gate after checking out from Pendant Hut.
  • You are estimated to arrive at Timpohon Gate between 16:00hr to 19:30hr, where you can transfer to the headquarters to collect your certificate of achievement.
  • Your lunch will be served in Kinabalu Park.
  • The return journey to Kota Kinabalu city will take approximately 2 hours.

Important Notes

  • Climbers arriving at Timpohon Gate after 4:30 PM will be charged MYR 15.00 per hour per guide, which must be paid to the guide on site.
  • Remember to bring your passport or MYKAD for verification during registration at the Kinabalu Park office.
  • Beginning September 1st, 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia will be implementing a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTX) for foreign tourists. The rate is MYR 10 per room per night, regardless of the accommodation's star level, and is to be paid upon check-in. Malaysians or permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempt from the TTX and must present valid identification upon check-in to claim the exemption.
  • On the day of the climb, climbers must bring their original passports or ID cards to the Kinabalu Park HQ for registration.
  • While at Pendant Hut, customers must bring their own face masks and wear them at all times, except during eating, drinking, and sleeping periods.
  • On the first day of the climb, climbers must attend a mandatory briefing and training session for the Via Ferrata route in Pendant Hut between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
  • On the second day of the climb, climbers must return to the starting point by 7:15 AM (WTT) or 6:30 AM (LPC) as the latest cut-off time.
  • All groups will be led by qualified Mountain Torq Via Ferrata trainers, and climbers will be mixed together.
  • Climbers who do not comply with the timing will not be able to continue with the Via Ferrata activity, and no reimbursement will be given.
  • In case of bad weather, the Via Ferrata activity may be cancelled for safety reasons, and no reimbursement will be given.
  • It is recommended that all climbers have a medical check-up before attempting any mountain climb.
  • Suppose you have a history of conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, palpitations, arthritis, heart disease, severe anaemia, peptic ulcers, epileptic fits, obesity, chronic asthma, muscular cramps, hepatitis, or any other illness that may impede your climb, it is highly recommended that you refrain from climbing.
  • All children under the age of 15 must fill out an indemnity form upon registration at the park headquarters.
  • Our dedicated team operates around the clock to accommodate all guests' arrival schedules. Therefore, we are able to provide airport pick-up services at any time to match your arrival time. Please provide us with your flight details at least one week prior to your flight so we can make the necessary arrangements.
